It's a pretty big jump coming from high school where it's almost impossible to fail a course to university where you need to get over half the points just to get a 1 (that's the lowest grade, I don't know what kind of grades you get but we get from 1 to 5).

A, B, C, D, and F. A is highest, F is failing. F is usually around a 50% grade or somewhat higher, so it sounds like your 1.

I've marked uni papers and, at least where I work, we try and pass students if possible and find them marks. It may be different round where you are but I doubt many professors will be looking to fail people, especially in earlier courses.

Over here we usually get a 0 to 10 system with 6-7 being the average passing grades (depends if the institution is private or public).

But the actual grade you get is not so much a matter of how hard the class is or the subject... it usually boils down to that grey area between how full of shit your teacher is and how much he hates you

I'm more convinced Math is a sentient entity (many people believe in it) and hates me. That's just self-indulgent excusing, though.

I used to be good at math, too. The middle school stuff, back before math was made of crazy strung together with gibberish.

It's never happened to me, but it has happened to other students. It makes working on the project all that more stressful. The higher level drawing professors here are brutal. I know some students who spend the night in the art building trying to get stuff done on time.

My mom has told me stories about professors doing this. Apparently one of here teachers set one of her classmate's projects on fire because he didn't like it.

The worst experience that I think I've had is my teacher being unaware of when deadlines for projects actually are (projects that are submitted to external scorers). She tells me that my big, huge, Java project was due on the 15th of April. Then, she comes up to me and tells me that the 15th was the date that the completed project had to be submitted. She had to submit the score that she thinks I deserve based on my rough drafts 2 weeks earlier. Suffice to say that I learned this on the day that she had to submit her score. Thankfully all the code was done and 3/4ths of the write-up was done as well, but writing 3 in-depth papers and finishing up all my code documentation was quite painful to do in a day.

Oh, and a certain organization can also go fuck itself.

Im still in high school. The problem isnt my classes. Its my classmates. One of our teachers nearly had a nervous breakdown because of how my classmates where acting. I am the only kid in one of my classes that actually acts my age. another thing that sets me back is that my hand writing is so bad that whenever i have a sub he takes one look at my paper flips it over twice then gives me a zero (we have the ABCDF and the 0-100% thing at the same time) luckily the teachers always correct that.
