I think it's just the colors, mostly. Fang (apparently people of Pulse reverse their names) has dark hair and wears her blue sari (which admittedly is long like Rinoa's duster), but overall, she doesn't seem like Rinoa at all, to me, at least. She seems much older and harder, and my brain pretty much is drawing a != on it.

She doesn't remind me of Rinoa because she looks like a dude with Deborah's hair. (Deborah is from DQ5, look it up)

Oh c'mon, now you guys are pushing it... just because she has black hair and blut clothing she looks like Rinoa / Yuna? C'mon...

Seriously, i even question some of you when you go "Thought that was a guy"... i mean, Really? I get the whole Bishonen concept and shit, but the only time EVER i got mixed that way was in Tales of Symphonia, but fuck me, Zelos Wilder looks like a Girl anyway...

I've seen Snow being called "Seifer 2.0" and lady-with-glasses being called Quistis... but c'mon people!

Can we just criticize and judge new characters and story based on what they are, instead of what we know they look like? Hell, give her a green dress and everyone would be calling her "Rydia Ripoff" and point out that she has Bahamut as "Even bigger Proof of that".

Go ahead and point out that Vanille looks like Yuffie with bubblegum hair, and that Sazh is like a Slimmer Barret (they both use guns and are presented as a light Comedic character with emotional backgrounds tied to their kids).

Yeah, sure we all know that Lightning was designed per request as a Female Cloud and that her "Changing names to leave her young self behind" is akin to Cloud's adopting Zack's past as his own. Give me some time and i can do this all day. You can easily tie multiple elements and characters to their Similar counterparts in other FF games. It's by far no indication that they "Copypasta" everything... it just means that it's a interconnected series that is VERY long and done mostly by the same people.

EDIT: If i hand't take so long to find those pictures my post would seem a little bit less dickish right now...

Seriously Bells, if all you can see is her face, she looks like a dude. Or at least she does when compared to most other JRPG characters. This isn't even me taking a potshot at JRPGs, this is "Her facial structure seems manly to me, at least moreso than what I normally expect."

Besides, I wasn't even judging her character or behavior, I was just saying what her appearance reminded me of. You're overreacting.

Also, if Snow isn't a grown up version of KH2's Seifer, then I don't know what is. And Jihl does have the same hair style as Vayne Solidor, so my statement that she looks like Vayne meets Quistis I feel was fairly accurate.

Yeah, I was giving the game shit for having similar looking characters, but that doesn't mean every time I say, "So and so looks like/reminds me of a character" I'm making fun of the game.

To be fair i haven't even seen your post before posting mine.

yeah, i get making fun of the game, i'm pretty sure i've said it myself right in this board that snow stole Seifer's Wardrobe from KH2 (I mean, only a blind guy wouldn't see that one).

If you put the 5 Females we have so far you side by side you can totally see a "Progression". From the Tamed and cute (and helpless apparently) Serah, to the Peppy and "Genki" Vanille, to the "Lady with glasses" Military-Femme-Bitch, to Lightning's Harden Shell with Soft inside and finally Oerba's "Girl that can kick your ass with gusto" looks.

To me, she looks like a Hot Chick, But yeah, they could give her another Body, keep the face, call that a man and nobody would know.

Actually, the designers said outright that Sazh was based off Lionel Richie, so there is that.

Aside from that,

Oerba Dia Vanille => Vanille
Oerba Yun Fang => Fang

Oerba seems to be a tribal name. Besides, Fang is easier to type. >_<
