I just finished watching Black Lagoon with my younger brother and my roommate. They got a real kick out of it, but we all agreed to never watch the Hansel & Gretel arc again, if we ever re-watch the series.

Augh Jesus Christ Hansel & Gretel.
And yet the Yakuza arc was even worse.

Hansel and Gretel was way overdone, but I thought it gave the characters some good characterization.

Also, just watched the first episode of Bleach. Looks good enough so far. My only complaint is that I know cleaning products play no role in the story.

It's usually ironic enough about its device that I can watch it unironically! Oh, and I'm still watching Six Feet Under... slowly.

Whereas H&G is about two little freaky psychos who get killed because they picked a fight with the most badass gang in Badass Gang City. As freaky as they are the overall narrative structure isn't actually a downer.

That's how they getcha. They start with all these ideas and likable characters, but then it keeps going and it gets bogged down with fights fights fights and Captain Little Kid and the chick in the tokusatsu getup isn't a character and all that.

Well, so far I'm liking it. If I were to split up the Soul Society arc, which is what I guess the first arc is, into a bunch of little arcs*, I'd say I'm currently in the "Chad is fucking awesome" arc. Also, I'm a poser now.

As for me, I think I'm going to start giving each episode of The Sacred Blacksmith my own title. Episode one is "Katanapasta," two is "Siegfried Totally isn't the Man in Black," three is "Dammit, Cecily," and four is "The Harass Cecily Show."
