What're you watching?

Got started on Venture Brothers, and I'm a couple episodes into Season 2. It's really good so far and gotten some good laughs from me, especially in the pirate episode. Brock and Dr. Orpheus are easily my most favorite characters.

Decided I'd also start Casshern Sins over again and see if I could finish it this time. I just finished episode nine, and, just like I remember, I enjoy the pointless episodes more than I do the plot related ones. Casshern just isn't a very interesting character. The characters that only show up for one episode are generally much more interesting and better characterized than he ever is. Animation is pretty fuckin' amazing though.

Still watching Needless, and we're up to episode sixteen. Animation went a bit... weird in episode fifteen, but I gather that it was going for some super-stylized thing and it didn't last long so whatever. Still as over the top as always, and the characters they're fighting now are pretty badass. Teruyama had a pretty awesome moment that got cut short, but in an awesome way so I forgive it. The reveal of who the mysterious fourth member of Simeon's Four Strongest was done a lot better than I expected, given that I already knew who it was. I've also sort of realized that this show is all about watching the good guys getting the shit kicked out of them for a few episodes, then winning in one episode so they can get the shit kicked out of them again. I'm still enjoying it.

And I just started watching Robotech: Macross Saga because I've been curious about it and it's on Hulu. Very cheesy and very old school anime about aliens and spaceships and giant robots. It's fun enough so far, even though I'm only in the second episode, so I'll keep going with it for now. The opening theme makes me expect Superman to suddenly fly across the screen for no reason.
