What disturbs me is people who're so into being miserable they get angry when they see you try to do something nice. This actually happens. I might be talking to person A who's having some problems, listening, being sympathic and assuring and maybe give some advice. This makes person B who overhears the conversation furious, and I get told at great length that I can't help people because I don't have a psychiatrist degree, that I'm deluding myself that I'm useful to society and dangerously deluding person A into thinking he feels better, and in fact it's my duty as a human being to make people miserable to cure them of optimism.
