Ultima Thule has kept the Molemen at bay for a while now, but I hear Dr. Fu Man Chu has been dosing them with radioactive isotopes to mutate them into monstermoles capable of destroying entire legions of warriors.

It's not her fault it's a common misconception. Temperature, being defined as the vibration of matter, simply breaks down when there is not matter to vibrate, such as in a vacuum. However, if there were matter enough out there to define temperature (and there is at least some hydrogen floating around from what I understand), chances are it would, indeed, be quite cold in most areas.

What the fuck? Space is cold as fuck you just wouldn't feel it that much cause there is no good way to lose temperature in space. But average temperature is around 3K which is pretty much as cold as you can get.
But if you guys insist we can redefine our temperatuer scales based on what it feels like to a human- that's about the only way to say space isn't cold.

How long does it take water to freeze in open space? How much gas do you need to boil it? If you take your space helmet off, will you turn into a meat popsicle instantly like in that Mars movie? The answers to those questions may surprise you.

And guys, there isn't a space alien conspiracy. They're time aliens.

Alll to do with the fact that space is pretty much empty not to do with its temperature.
If you are outside in space the only real way to lose heat is radiative which is pretty slow wehreas on earth most heat is loss via conduction which can't happen in space becuase there is no particles for condnuction to happen (conduction is transferrance of heat from particlesi n your body to particles in the surroundings, radiative loss is due to emitting radiation).
So it'd take quite a while to freeze in space- also you won't explode through decompression, your body is strong enough to hold together- oxygen loss is what wil lkill you in about a minute or two.

Temperature is a trait of matter. You can't apply that to empty space. Space is pretty much literally empty space except for the occasional h2 molecule or whatever. Most of the objects IN space are probably quite cold (other than the ones fairly close to the sun/in direct sunlight), but that's just because they've slowly lost their energy through, as you said, radiative means. You cannot say that space ITSELF is actually cold because empty space does not have any molecules to vibrate.

My point was that if you jumped into a vacuum, you would not feel cold, anyway.

Space has matter floating about in it. When you talk about the temperature of space you talk about the average temperature of that matter.
I do astrochemistry, we talk about the temperature of space, the scientific community talks about the temperature of space, we all know what it means- the only people who get nitpicky are nerds who have watched too much star trek.
Space ain't a perfect vacuum (and even if you had a perfect vacuum you would be able to measure a temperature that wasn't 0 due to zero-point energy).
