So according to here, the developers of Silent Hill 8 are not the same as Homecoming - Double Helix. I don't know if it's Climax, responsible for Origins and Shattered Memories, or someone else. (I don't want to get my hopes up and suggest Team Silent.)

Konami ended last night's press event in San Francisco by showing a teaser trailer for a new Silent Hill game. It's unclear at the moment if this is a remake of an older title in the series, or a brand new chapter.

The video showed a blonde-haired man waking up on a public bench in a foggy city. The man looks around confusingly as hears footsteps by nearby creatures. The trailer ends with a quick shot of one of the creatures attacking the man before going black.

No platforms were announced in the trailer, but Konami promises to have more details at this year's E3 in June.

So there's that - I like tossing the idea of "remake" around, because an early SH title on a next gen system, say Silent Hill 2 on PS3, would be pretty awesome. Just sayin'.

EDIT New news! According to this,

Developing the game this time around is Vatra Games, a relatively new, Czech-based developer, part of Kuju Entertainment. Vatra is also working on another title that a little bit more information can be found on, Rush 'N Attack: Ex-Patriot. Unfortunately since these are their first two titles, we can't look at other games in their repetoire to get a feeling for how Silent Hill 6 will be.

As someone who wasn't satisfied with Shattered Memories, Origins or Homecoming, I'm hoping this "Vatra" can do things right.
