Buggy? Like, the little icons on maps for where your current mission needs you to go? It's rarely that bad. I only recall hating it during scavenger missions.

They made a joke about it in the Zombie Island DLC, though.



All of my cool characters and nice weapons are on my Live account/my 360. I only have characters still in Playthrough 1 on Steam. My group of friends that I have been playing with has kind of hit a roadblock due to one of them never being able to connect to our games. We usually spend an hour or two opening ports and swapping hosts to get him in, with no luck, before folks get frustrated and pick a different game. Are any of you still in the first playthrough? I have no problem with speeding through and avoiding side-quests (though I will have to do them eventually -- I HATE HATE HATE how Claptraps and other NPCs keep telling me they have jobs for me).

Went play on a Brazilian server I always play on, went pyro, map was nightfall: I had like 22 points and a guy with 15 on the other team said "That ryong guy is a noob" so I go "excuse me?" "wm1" "I reflect rockets, I push away ubers, I extinguish everyone and I snipe with the flare gun" "anyone can do that". So, what, I'm supposed to puff'n'sting? Anyway, I got to the top of the team rather fast, had 3 dominations, got at least a triple kill every life, so by the end I had 68 points and the guy had 36, and a couple of other people on the other team called me "wm1" 'cause of stuff like:

- a heavy, a scout, a medic and a demoman pushing the cart, I make my way around them via a side path because, uh, W+M1 would be suicide and stuff, so I run all the way around them and then shoot fire at them from behind while a heavy shoots them from the front, they all died.

- I have the flare gun out, a pyro with shotgun starts shooting me from a medium range and I ignore him, go for a medkit, turn around a corner and wait for him. He didn't show up, but he did call me a noob.

- A friendly sniper runs up to me for no reason, I set him on fire, obvious spy, I hit him with Flare and he DRs away, so I go after him and then another obvious spy disguised as a scout runs up to me, so I set him on fire too and I start getting shot, by a third spy. I kill the scout one, I miss a flare on the one that was shooting me and I get backstabbed by a fourth. Then the first one calls me a noob on chat. 'Cause taking 4 people to kill you means you suck.

Sounds to me that it isn't an issue with yourself or your skills as the other players seemingly having the raw timber equivalent of the entire Amazonian rainforest shoved into their colons. Try to ignore them.

Sucks that the assholes happened to be on one of the servers you frequent often, but hey it happens.

Speaking of TF2, and pyro at that, lately I've been using Degreaser + Reserve Shooter, and instead of puff-stinging with the flare gun, I just airblast them into the air and shotgun them. While it's not always as powerful as the flare gun puff-sting (spread variation and my lack of accuracy at times), the fact that it's a shotgun means I can hunt enemy pyros, which is pretty much what I focus on. It's pretty fun.

And in completely unrelated to TF2, but still related to Steam news: In case nobody has noticed my new Steam name, I'm looking for a co-op campaign partner in Total War: Shogun 2, if anyone with that game is interested.

I know. I've put 25 hours into the game already, and I've only started 4 campaigns. First two I gave up on rather quickly because I was learning the ropes and was quickly doomed to failure or extremely poor. The third I rose to fame too quickly and the Shogunate declared Realm Divide on me, thus screwing me completely since I wasn't ready to fight all the goddamn clans at once. And now my fourth one, which I'm about 40 turns into, and taking my time to rise to power.

Having a co-op campaign on the side with someone is mostly just for fun to see how it would end up, and like the satisfaction of knowing there is a clan who won't screw me over just because the shogunate are self-preserving pricks.

But yeah it won't surprise me if it takes like a month or so of on and off play to actually finish.

I've started to play EQ2, as EQ was my first MMO and I enjoyed it for a while

I have to stop playing DotA 2 on a team of complete random people.

Most of the times I lose it's because my team is terrible, like, they run into the entire enemy team then run off and go back one by one. Most of them don't understand the concept of distraction, either, so when you have the whole team on you, they go jungle or stand by a tower that's nowhere close to being attacked. On the times it's my fault, I still manage most of the time to at least get good items.

I played a round with a Clockwerk Goblin that landed power cog correctly once in the whole game, for example. Had a Lina with a dagon 1 and normal boots at 43 minutes of play. Had a guy who bitched taht I was killstealing him when he couldn't reach someone and I killed the guy with Necrolyte's ultimate. Had a Rikimaru who told me to uninstall because I was playing terribly and then he tower dives at level 2 against a DK.

It's like, I flip a coin to see if my team is good or not, mostly. Got 15 wins, 19 losses so far.

Payday is pretty darn fun. It hooked me when I first got it during one of them steam sale thingamajigs. It has an interesting leveling system and while the number of heists is rather limited they're all pretty fun. Also, horribly hard at times unless you know what you're doing (I'm looking at you Diamond Heist with your random bullshit and guards that live in the fucking vault).

Also I own Defcon, but am terrible at it when it comes to playing against other people. I can somehow manage to beat the AI... sometimes.

In the zip file that you downloaded there's a file (I forget the name but in ends in .vpk or something like that) that you just need to double click. Steam does the rest.

Also skin mods are client-side so only you will see the changes you made.

One possibility Mauve, is if you or someone you know, has a lappytop (with enough hard drive space), and you install steam on it, and take it to someplace with free wifi at a downtime when nobody else is there, and then download the game onto the lappytop.

Then turn off steam on your own compy, move the lappytop's steam install folder's steamapps to DVD or a hard drive, and then copy paste that into your steam install, then boot up steam again.

Steam should recognize the installed game, and that it is registered for your steam account, and so you can play it.

This is how I got KOTOR onto my computer at college when the dorm's internet died for about a week, and I had a small netbook I took to the campus library.

Shyria, in the event I don't see you again tonight on Steam, Google says you either need to delete local content on Tf2 and reinstall, or Defrag your hard drive. I've had that problem before, and that's what solved it for me, for the most part. Not something that will get you into gaming tonight, but hopefully a real fix.

I don't know if it was because we were playing at 4am, if the latest patch had something to do with it, or if the game really sets up matches based only on the host, but we just played about 4+ games with Pyros as the host and the other team was always noobs. So if you ever want to team up with Lazy, aka, me, and one other person (or whoever else wants to play, so long as we have I have another player with me to help carry) we can test this out further and have a blast stomping players.

The puzzles are interesting, as are the various dimensions you interact with to complete them. And the game's sense of humor is pretty great (not to mention it has some amazing puns). 6 is the max in Killing Floor with the exception of servers that have like a 50 person mod, and they are not that great (usually on these huge empty maps) but I have not seen one like that in awhile.

Just got done doing a configuration test with Psychonauts (really fun game) and am looking for suggestions for the game to play on sunday. Im willing to purchase whatever game I'll need to do the event, and my computer is high powered enough that it should be able to handle most modern games even with the streaming.

I ask that you use these guidelines for game suggestions:

Well, looking at my list of games and what I remember, Just Cause 2 is a great one given it's open-world setting with very fast means of travel and the general goal to cause anarchy.

Alpha Protocol is the dialogue tree of dialogue trees with various fun/broken bits of stealth and action gameplay, and the pacing isn't too slow so you can keep going through missions competently without bogging things down too much. Also you'll be able to listen to us scream to you whether or not you should execute new people you meet (the decision comes up far more often than it should). This would make a nice alternative too.

Well since everyone and their mother is doing some livestreams, I figured I would jump onto the bandwagon.

1) Diablo 3 Hardcore
Because real men only die once. Blizzard server lag coupled with when livestream inevitably decides it wants to fuck with me and fiddle with my fps or ping will make this especially interesting. Also, everyone watching will have free reign over every choice I make, from class to skills to items. If the popular vote is to run through, or even murder everything in, a dungeon while naked with no weapons, that's what I'll do. 2) Quantum Conundrum
The game is pretty fun, although there won't be much room for viewer interaction.

3) Deus Ex: Human Revolution
So many choices! Plenty of augs and paths to choose, not to mention the ability to play as a mass murderer or a sneaky pacifist.

Me and Aldurin were playing some Tribes: Ascend the other night, and while Tribes is always a learning experience with a high curve, (and the graphical requirements are troublesome, remember to set it to only 1 cpu in Task Manager if it freezes at the login screen) the new game is a blast that makes it easy and fun to get from A to B.

Everyone kinda sucks when they first pick it up, and if you're used to a conventional FPS, you'll find yourself out of your element, but when you manage to kill someone with an explosive glowing blue frisbee at range while you and your opponent are moving at ludicrous speeds, it certainly makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

It's also a game where everyone gets a rocket launcher or a grenade launcher, and yet the game is completely fair about it.

What I like about this game over the older games is that Skiing is now much easier, you just hold the space bar to slide and let gravity and your jetpack take over, and you get points and cred for doing what you should logically be doing, even if you're not so great at actually killing the other players. A low level player will actually get plenty of experience destroying turrets and repairing their own team's turrets while they work on getting better at frizbee death and skiing, so when they unlock the better weapons and kits they'll know how to use them.

And the maps are large and beautiful!

Also all of the people owning Killing Floor, bit of a PSA. Try and launch it, it will then convert Killing Floor into the "new and more efficient" content Valve was talking about a few months ago that apparently makes performance/downloads on Steam faster. You are essentially re-downloading a good chunk of the game, so it is better to know now so to not get blindsided on Steam Night this weekend.

I used to hate them, then I learned to have a priority of jumping and/or cloaking around them in an erratic manner (I exclusively play Infiltrator right now so I spend a lot of time fighting off technicians at either generator.)

The problem with it is that it gets pretty old and dull fast. It is fun the first few times then enjoyment just STOPS. It is kinda odd but that is pretty much everyone's experience with it is.

A perfect example of this is when Karesh, Ramary, and I (and maybe Mumu? I don't remember if he was there for this one) got to wave 40 (I think) on endless, and just gave up because of how repetitive and easy it was getting.
