So this here is our new Planning Thread of Awesomeness. Let us use it to plan our awesome Left 4 Friend Hopping Zombie Adventures-- uh, I mean, super-serious-business Left4Dead and TF2 adventures.

On a related note, we haven't had an L4D2 night in forever. Those zombies wont shoot themselves, you know. Right you are! I believe this should be remedied before those zombies forget who's in charge here.

The way this has worked out so far is that everybody gets in steam group chat at about the same time. 8 of us who lave L4D2 start playing that, and whoever doesn't have L4D2 or isn't cool enough to join our SUPER X-CLUSIVE KEWL KIDS GAME go and play TF2. Then, after a few games of L4D2, we get bored of that and go join the people playing TF2.

I'm currently getting a download speed of a whopping 34.3 KB/s.

I've been working on downloading TF2's update for the past two days; hopefully it'll be finished by tonight. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to at least play Team Fortress tomorrow evening with you guys. I rather like Monday Night Combat myself, just haven't played it much. If we could get people to fill up a server that'd be awesome. Although I don't think we can have voice chat shenanigans in that game... Oh well. Still pretty damn fun.

The learning curve's a bit steep in my opinion, but I find Monday Night Combat to be a blast. Helps that it has a pretty good single player mode for you to get used to the classes and raise up some money and levels before jumping into multiplayer.

If Azisien drinks enough rum and coke he WILL start lecturing other players on how NPF is awesome (all the while letting everyone know that we're neglecting the game because we're discussing about switching over to L4D2)

On Left 4 Dead i learned that Chargers are great at charging walls, Jockeys are a sad excuse for matter, Boomers are made of sugar, and Spiiters and Smokers are the only ones worth the weight most of the time.

Other than that, i would like to blame Drunkness of Azi for us a Survivors never managing to outleast 10 minutes, but i really can't do that. It was a collective effort =3

I learned that weird people who don't have that strange NPF charm are just plain weird. And don't shut up. And apparently want to 'defend' things? Did I get that right? Someone was yelling a lot about that in team chat. TF2 is so complicated!

I also learned that a Mauve Mage can shoot a Steel Shadow at 100 paces around corners, and that Azisien cannot be killed by bullets.

I had a lotta fun! Pity I could only stay for a short while. Next time!

I tend to play as a Heavy, but I'll play as a Pyro or Soldier every now and then. And sometimes a Scout if I feel like smacking people with a fish.

Also I was playing as a Heavy when I was murdering everything during that Medieval match. Don't get between me and my Killing Gloves of Boxing!

I think that Spitter was me. I honestly don't remember TOO clearly, but that sounds familiar. Most of what I remember is Hard Rain and RAGING before (and slightly after) the match.

Definitely. There are plenty of TF2 players on NPF. While I prefer L4D myself, I'll play TF2 with a group. All while protesting that I have no idea what is going on until I go medic and hide behind Azi and look like I know what I'm doing.

I didn't save it, sadly. What I do remember was searching for empty servers on the West Coast and tried to stick to stock maps. That worked then at least (I think all of us who were there were in that general region anyways), though it may be different for people in different areas. I'll keep my eyes peeled and if we play again soon and hit a good one, I'll note it.

It appears that Valve just patched in a beta of the upcoming "Cold Stream" campaign. I don't know if it's that or something else with my computer, but my L4D2 was running a bit choppy and had skipping audio.

It's also a 500+MB download.

That's a common misconception! I am more effective in L4D in Drunk Mode because I have more courage!

In TF2 I was simply more effective that other time because I had a synergy bonus for playing with Mauve Mage/ToastB, aka "200% Horseman of the Apocalypse" Soldier/Medic.

Incidentally, early on when you killed that demo and were shocked to find him just a second later. That was me. One of my favorite tricks as spy is to disguise myself as a teammate, then dead ringer to throw a fake body and sneak behind everyone.

We tried Dark Carnival and failed. Awesomely. Then it was silly times on TF2.

I think all spy was the best silly times, though soldiers with guided rockets was also great.

Although, my personal best moment of the night was a casual conversation near the carousel in Dark Carnival when suddenly FLAMING ZOMBIES HORDE.

Well I had fun last night. Killing Floor kinda fell through once people joined in the middle of a game on Hard, but I think better organization can get us to fill an empty server in the future and get people used to the game. I gotta work on that...

But after that, L4D2 was fun. I was sucking for most of the game, but I ended up killing 2 survivors on the final rush. How... I don't know. My ability in that game boomerangs SO much.

And TF2 was also fun, got a lot of time on Soldier and had one round where I was holding off a good portion of the enemy team on Goldrush. Fun times! But then I had to leave pretty much right after that... oh well.

I think I held my own pretty well on KF. I was second place for kills on the leader board until I switched to the crossbow and started focusing on the screamers, the shooters, the berserkers, and the chainsawers (i hope you know which enemies I'm talking about because I have no idea what their actual names are).

actually its quite easy to take down a heavy as soly if you know how.
Its mostly just being a dick and Pot shooting him from a corner so that he cant hit you with his steam of bullets.

I remember back before the updates, when soldier had 32 rockets, if teams were small enough I could single handedly hold off a whole team with rocket spam. Gave you so many sometimes I'd just hold down the fire button and rely on luck that someone would turn the corner at the right time

I'd definitely put ace sniper as an honourable mention for heavy-counter, yep. Strictly from personal observation I don't get enough bullets between the eyes to call it a great counter, though. It depends on the map but I can more easily dodge a sniper by avoiding those long distance corridors and such. I can't dodge a spy because I don't know where a spy is! I think spy just out and out takes the show for bursting the heavy bubble. And most other bubbles too. Spy is slowly giving me traumatic stress, but the game wouldn't be the same without them.

I done put down many a rocket spammer in my day. The pro spams rockets with a certain...subtle elegance only other pros can recognize. Smugness over 9000 feat gives pro detection aura.

Actually, in all seriousness, the shotgun can be incredibly effective against pretty much everybody who's not a Heavy Weapons Guy. People underestimate it, which gives you an edge. They're less likely to deem you a threat when you're using it, especially when you're attacking in a group and the enemy has to choose between multiple targets, so they're more likely to ignore you until it's too late. Same goes for the engie's pistol, the Pyro's flare gun, and the Medic's blutsauger.

Plus, there's nothing like watching as a pyro realizes too late that his airblast does nothing against bullets.

I have a rather unconventional build, since afterburn is effectively useless so I use degreaser, and use shotgun because it is still a great midrange weapon. Finally homewrecker, cause I feel sorry for those engies that are killed then helplessly watch in respawn as their buildings are sapped.

Anyways, I could see it getting rather hectic with four dragons on a single map. It's pretty fun terrifying towns into being loyal to you while trying to sabotage the other dragon while trying to gain more gold and kidnap princesses while protecting your fearfully loyal towns from the other dragon (and occasionally giants). And that was just on the small map they give you in the demo with a single AI dragon as your opponent.

We already know the release date (and it's near), it's coming for the PS3, it's Coming for the Mac and PC... So, either thet are annoucing some sort of Portal Spinoff Episodic stuff (my guess) or something else similar...

There is some linkage to TF2, but almost none to Half Life 3. So it's more likely that we get a Multiplayer Focused Spinoff a'la TF2 but Portal Themed, than anything else, really.

So, I ended up downloading the Hoard demo on your collective recommendation, and I liked it enough to buy the full game. It's a TON of fun, which makes its crippling stability issues seem just that much worse. I've got about half an hour of playtime on it and it's already crashed on me 4 times.

But when it runs it's a blast. I'd love to see it played 4-player competitive.

They seem to be driving to Half Life Episode 3 being directly connected to Portal 2, which, really... is the only thing that makes god damn sense. But Valve has been out of the Big Games league for a while. They are focused on Short games, Multiplayer content and that such... so i'm actually skeptical of what they can do with Gordon freeman. And since they manage to make Alyxs outshine the guy, i'm not even all that into it anymore.

Why do we never fight in the Half Life 2 multiplayer thing?

Half Life 2 Deathmatch? I played a few times, and it does seem quite fun. Also free... if you guys download it, i would totally join up

It's free if you have an ATI (Dunno about Nvidia users, maybe they also get it for free) video card. Mine's an ATI and I got it free. Alien Swarm is free and has multiplayer.

Today was fun, we finished Cold Stream! After having one survivor spawning OUTSIDE of the safe house and having a Boomer save me from a Smoker. I was behind without any hope for help but, the Boomer was there :D

Yup, his (her? I didn't get to see my savior) explosion freed me from the Smoker's grip. I'd say that Coach saved me but, he got stupid and didn't try to shoot the Smoker >_>. When Mauve saw me, she was like "how did you get free?" :D

So apparently there was an ENORMOUS thunderstorm that struck my city and amazed everyone.

...Everyone except me, sitting in my dark basement with my noise-cancelling headset, shooting zombies like it's a career! Good times!

Last night, we briefly had 14 players online in steam group chat. New record. Yaaaaaay.

EDIT: How would you guys like to make plans for a few of our better players to get together one night and do all the Expert campaign achievements? It would mean we can get through stuff a lot of people have a really hard time with on public groups and the more casual players won't have to deal with us competitive assholes.
